I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Jo Whaley’s Exhibit. Even though she staged all her photographs they seemed almost as if they were natural compositions. She combines “Science and Imagination” to create dreamlike photos. My favorites were the compositions where she used victorian portraits and layered butterflies and moths over the portraits. The effect was very eerie. I normally would not like to go to and exhibit on bugs, but Jo Whaley was able to make bugs enjoyable. One other piece I was drawn to was a photo of multiple sheets of paper and there was a hole ripped in it and a little beetle was sitting underneath it. Jo Whaley is able to create character traits for these bugs by putting them in different environments.
